如果你和我一样平时都用Del.icio.us的书签服务的话，那么可以试着换种方式来观看书签了——Favthumbs。与del.icio.us呆板的只显示标题的方式相比，favthumbs显示的是缩略图，而且有静态和动态两种观看形式。见下图。

这个界面是不是看着有些熟悉？和我们介绍过的searchme有些像。点击缩略图或者使用下面的控制条可以让书签滑过眼前。点击选好的书签会进入原文，不过并没有离开favthumbs这个站点，favthumbs给原文加了个框（frame）。

图中显示的是动态的方式，可以点击Grid（黄圈所示）进入静态方式，即一张张平铺的缩略图。界面的右侧是已有的标签列表。

英语是什么颜色的？这个问题本身就会让人摸不着头脑，更不要说答案了。不过麻省理工大学和纽约大学的科学家们就做了一件看起来不着边际的工作，他们绘出了一张英语颜色图，总体来说是灰色的，不过也有蓝、绿、红镶嵌其中，还不算难看。见下图（截图）。

他们是怎么做到的呢？首先这是针对英语当中所有的名词（不算缩写），共75062个。科学家们依据的是WordNet提供的词汇，并且根据语义关系的远近把这些词分门别类。

颜色从哪里来呢？主要是通过google图片搜索和其他网站得到的免费图片，共使用了79302017张图片。一个词会对应很多图片，那么怎么样确定这个词的颜色呢？科学家们使用了“平均法”，也就是每张图片都取一个平均颜色，然后再混合在一起得到的颜色。

把涂好颜色的词按照语义远近排列起来，就得到这张图了。科学家们说做这张图的目的是看看语义和视觉之间有没有什么关系（现在看来应该是有的）。

那么，汉语是什么颜色的呢？

Have you ever wondered what the English language looks? Yeah, neither have I. But a group of researchers at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology and New York University did, and tapping into the billions of images freely available on the Internet, they came up with a visual map of the English language using nearly 80 million of those images. The images are arranged based on the semantic relationship between words, and thus, according to the researchers, the project explores “the relationship between visual and semantic similarity.”Read more.
