据TechCrunch报道，或许本周，Facebook将宣布将facebook平台完全转变为开源平台。如果属实的话，这是一个重大的出人意料，因为前不久，facebook还拒绝google friend connect访问其用户资料，背上了不开放的名声。

如果属实，这表明facebook要的开放是facebook的开放，而不是让google牵着走的开放。当然，这种开放的大动作也是让google逼出来的。google有自己的开源平台opensocial，而且有推广这个平台的基金，yahoo和mysapce都已经声明支持这个平台。

开源平台的直接好处就是，现有的（或即将诞生的）社群网站将很容易和facebook平台兼容，在facebook上的应用也将会方便的在这些网站上使用；用户的资料也将极容易便携，如果网站之间同意这么做的话，按照目前社群站点的开放步伐来看，他们会很快同意这么做的，不管心里是情愿还是不情愿。

更新：Facebook官方已经证实此消息，开源平台的名称可能为“fbOpen”。

Facebook To Open Source Facebook Platform

The immediate effect will be to allow any social network to become Facebook Platform compatible - meaning application developers can easily take their Facebook applications and have them run on those social networks, too. 据Mashable报道，Facebook已经建立起一个叫“translations”的社区（也是一个基于facebook的应用），招募志愿者将facebook翻译成多语言版本，这项工作的目的是“任何人在任何地方用任何语言都可以访问facebook”。见下图，点击看大图。

这个社区目前有超过800名译者在工作，facebook并没有明确何时进行更大规模的招募。需要翻译的条目超过1万条，翻译好后，由社区用户进行投票，得票高的条目保留，目前可以参加投票的用户超过1.5万人。

Facebook的这种做法，显然受到了google多语言版本翻译的启发，主要由志愿者完成。但是目前正在翻译哪些语言，哪种语言版本将最先推出，还都无从知晓。
