一个多月以前我们报道了域名售卖公司Network Solutions的丑闻，这桩丑闻来自于这家公司所谓的“客户保护计划”，这个计划规定凡是用户在这家公司网站上查找的域名，都将被自动锁定(lock)4天，在这4天时间里只能从该公司购得该域名。

这样做的直接坏处就是，即使你曾经在别的域名售卖公司看到过更便宜的相同域名，只要你在network solutions搜索过该域名，在4天里只能在该公司购买。

今天，洛杉矶的一家公司以“超前交易（front running）” 的罪名起诉了该公司。同时被诉的还有ICANN（互联网名称与数字地址分配机构），因为他们没有阻止这种超前交易的行为。

我们最近似乎谈到了很多丑闻，这不是让人愉快的事，但是既然发生了，还是要说说，今天提起的是域名售卖领域的丑闻。

域名售卖领域一直存在着一个问题，就是“domain tasting”，翻译过来就是“域名品尝会”。这是一些公司或者个人，他们“买下”大批的域名，因为域名购买5日内不需要任何费用，然后以高价转手卖给需要这些域名的公司，或者测试这些域名的流量，挑出一些流量高的正式购买，作流量买卖或者日后趁机出售。这其中，也不可避免的有内线消息泄露，即域名售卖公司的内部人员，把用户搜索但是还未购买的域名泄漏给这些奸商（scammers）。

本次丑闻的主角是一家赫赫有名的域名售卖公司——Network Solutions。它于2007年12月启动了一项“顾客保护方案”，主要针对的就是奸商们的“域名品尝会”。主要方法是，当用户搜索了一个域名但是还没有购买的情况下，network solutions将自动注册这个域名，并为用户保留4天，如果4天内用户还没有购买，这个域名又会重获自由进行售卖。

看起来这是一个好主意，但是却存在着超前交易（front running）的嫌疑，而且对用户来说存在着两点最直接的威胁。

1. 妨碍自由竞争。当这个域名被networksolutions注册之后，用户只能在这家公司购买这个域名，即使这个域名能够在别的域名出售商那里以更低的价格买到。

2.可能会加剧“域名品尝会”。大量的域名被networksolutions注册的同时，这些域名也就成为公开信息了，所有者是networksolutions。可是当用户没有购买这些域名，那么当这些域名重回自由的一刹那，奸商们肯定会迅速占有这些域名。这不等于为他们提供了信息通道吗？

这个丑闻也是最先由blogger们揭露出来的。Network solutions正在想办法“改善”这种做法，比如告知用户公司有这样的服务，运行用户选择不用被注册等等。但是并没有详细的表现方式和实施计划。
