作为民主党的总统候选人竞争者，奥巴马（Obama）和希拉里（Hillary）有很多区别，比如，呃……一个是男一个是女。开个玩笑，看看下面这两张图吧。

左面这幅图是希拉里的twitter页面的侧边栏，右边这幅是奥巴马的twitter页面的侧边栏。区别已经用蓝框标出来了：第一个区别是名字不同，第二个是奥巴马跟（following）了很多人，而希拉里一个也没跟。一个也没跟。

Following在twitter里相当于加别人为好友，可以随时接收对方更新的信息，也就是听到他们正在说什么。这对于政治家太重要了，如果一个政治家从来不在乎别人说什么，那么人们为什么要把选票投给他呢？从上图还可以看出，希拉里一个人也没有跟，跟她的人也只有3340；反观跟奥巴马的人达到了25756。

共和党的麦凯恩（McCain）在哪里？别找了，他根本没有twitter帐户。

这就是为什么奥巴马将成为总统，而希拉里和麦凯恩都不行。（需要说明一下，奥巴马的following可能是自动设置的，但这已经算做的不错了。何况，他跟的人比跟他的人还要多一点。）

As Robert Scoble recently pointed out, “the secret to Twitter is how many people you are listening to, not how many people are listening to you.” If that’s the case, then someone needs to tell Hillary, who is using Twitter as a platform for being heard and following 0 people. Meanwhile, her competitor, Obama, follows 25,588. And John McCain? He doesn’t appear to be using Twitter at all. Read more.

左图这个人就是目前在美国政坛红的发紫的民主党总统候选人Barack Obama了，我们也不只一次介绍过有关他的新闻。他身边的就是竞选logo了。现在有Obama的拥趸建立了一个叫Logobama的网站，允许你把自己的照片（或其他图片）放到logo当中的圆圈中。并且提供适合各种社群站点使用的头像规格，比如twitter、myspace、facebook等等。下图是我的作品，更多请见这个flickr小组，目前已有620张图片了。

Yes We Can

It was a creed written into the founding documents that declared the destiny of a nation.

Yes we can.

It was whispered by slaves and abolitionists as they blazed a trail toward freedom.

It was sung by immigrants as they struck out from distant shores and pioneers who pushed westward against an unforgiving wilderness.

民主党总统候选人Barack Obama凭借他对IT产业发展的积极、开放的态度，赢得了硅谷精英们的心。作为回报，这些企业家和VC们将为Obama提供政治献金，下面是Valleywag披露的一份名单，知名的VC和IT公司老板几乎尽数其中。

尽管如此，在募集资金的整体数量上，Obama还是落后于希拉里1000万美元，下面是Maplight.org提供的一个民主党人和共和党人分别排在前三位的候选人所募集的资金数字。这是一家专门跟踪总统候选人和国会议员募集政治献金数量的网站。

金钱和政治总是纠结在一起，即使是最新的互联网企业也是如此行事，Google早已经开始了在国会的游说。

Myheritage（english version here）是最成功的族谱站点之一，它有一项引以为豪的技术——人脸识别（face recognition），并声称能够用此技术在庞大的数据库中为你找到可能和你有血缘关系的人。但是这个站上中国人不多，这项技术也无法测试如何。但是它还有一个玩耍的功能，看看哪位名人和你长得像。见下图。

这个服务实际上还分为三个小项目，一是看看哪个名人长得和你像，二是把你的相片和名人相片做一个渐变的flash，三是看看你的孩子更像谁。我们测试一下第一项。但是我恰巧没有合适的照片，于是以Barack Obama越俎代庖。操作很简单，上传一张照片即可。谁和Obama长得像呢？答案着实出人意表。见下图。

和Obama先生长得最像的当然是Obama本人，只不过只有66%的相似率。第二位竟然是周润发大叔，相似度61%！

虽然这只是一个游戏，但是也可以从侧面反映出，人脸识别匹配是一个相当困难的事情，还要慢慢发展。

Mr. Obama and face recognition

Myheritage is one of the most successful pedigree website, and it has a service “face recogniton” which is be used to match the people who may be relative with you. And it is also a game to find which celebrities you resemble.

I did a little test using mr. Obama’s picture since i have no appropriate photo right now. Who looks like mr. Obama? See the pictures above. The guy with 66% similarity is mr. Obama himself, and the second similar person is chinese movie star Chow Yun FA. It’s so weird!
