Tiinker: no future
What’s Tiinker? See how it introduces itself, “tiinker is an intelligent news aggregator. It gathers news articles and blog posts from around the world as they’re published and presents you with the stories you’ll find most interesting.
tiinker relies on a little help from you to learn your interests. You can mark each story as either interesting or uninteresting by clicking the thumbs-up or thumbs-down icon below it. tiinker uses artificial intelligence algorithms to analyse each story, learning which topics are of interest to you and which aren’t.”
The idea is great, but i don’t think it will success because the readers don’t need it basically.
Readers can be seen as “more professional” , such as bloggers, and most people are “more general”.They have different reading experiences.
People like bloggers what they read are very complicated, the contents basically consist of 3 parts: the giant web1.0 site, news aggregated web2.0(like techmeme, digg), and the professional blogs. Blogger scrawling alone in a website is unbelievable.
The “more general” people they have broad interests and what they really need most of time are to know something. So Yahoo, Reuters, CNN can supply most of need, browsing digg-like site and subscribe a few rss feed of the professional blogs are enough.
And there’s one thing important, the focus, people love focus but tiinker can’t give them even it has “popular”, no one knows how many people select the “popular” out.
