前几天给一家杂志社写一篇关于TD-SCDMA的文章（也因此耽误了这个博客的写作），最后谈到无论是TD还是别的3G网络，都没有提供明显超越2G、2.5G的产品，也就是所谓的杀手级应用，今天藉着Fring发布关于iPhone的预发布版，了解了一下fring，它可以算是一种杀手级应用（同时也支持2.5G）。
Fring是一款以色列出产的免费的移动VoIP软件，把它安装到手机上以后，可以直接用手机打VoIP电话，比如可以和你的skype联系人通话，这意味着什么？省钱！也许是看重中国这个超过5亿手机用户的市场，fring甚至专门制作了一个中文主页，见下图（截图），点击看大图。
除了打（接近）免费的电话以外，fring还可以和msn等聊天工具的联系人进行即时通讯联系。fring宣称支持的手机有500余种，在中文页面明确显示支持的手机有诺基亚和索爱的Symbian系列手机，及windows手机，当然还有iPhone，别忘了大陆地区有40万的iPhone用户。这个中文页面还有具体的安装方法解释。iPhone的安装方法见这个页面。其它种类的手机是否支持，可以在具体可以在这个页面查询，点击页面中部最右侧的“visual list”。
Fring宣称支持3G、EDGE、GPRS或Wi-Fi等接入方式。由于我的手机还处在最初级的阶段，因此关于软件安装和网络接入都不能验证，所以本文也只能到这里结束了，如果哪位朋友试验过了，请在下面留言告诉大家。
Fring iPhone Chat/Voip App Launching Today
(via techcrunch) Fring, an Israeli startup that has a great VOIP/Chat service for mobile phones (see our February coverage), is launching an iPhone version of the service sometime in the next 24 hours, we’ve heard.
This is not a browser-based chat app like FlickIM or Mundu. It should be a fully functional downloadable version of the application that allows users to access the fring, Skype, MSN Messenger, Google Talk, ICQ, SIP, Twitter, Yahoo and AIM services. Read more.

最近时常有朋友问我，怎么用iPod之外的播放器来播放iTunes中的音乐？是啊，怎么播放那些iPod+iTunes策略下的AAC格式的歌曲呢？
有了，doubleTwist。这个桌面软件会自动“解放(liberate)” iTunes中的AAC文件，转化成mp3格式，然后同步到你的非iPod播放器中。这种转化是什么原理呢？据路透社报道，doubleTwist执行了快速播放然后快速录制的过程，这个过程很快，半个小时大概可以转化100首歌。歌曲的音质据估计只能达到原文件的95%。（谁会在乎呢？）
doubleTwist目前处于测试阶段，只能同步到诺基亚（N系列）、索尼爱立信（walkman音乐手机和Cybershop）、LG Viewty、微软智能手机。相信很快会支持更多播放器的。看看这个关于同步iTunes的视频吧。

Hacker’s firm doubleTwist enables copying of iTunes
(via Y!news via Reuters) A start-up co-founded by famed Norwegian hacker “DVD Jon” is on Tuesday introducing a service that enables users to copy and use copy-protected Apple Inc(AAPL.O) iTunes songs on many popular non-Apple devices.
The San Francisco-based company, doubleTwist, is releasing a service that makes it easy for consumers to share both user-generated and professionally created audio, photos and video clips via computers, certain mobile phones or PSP game players. Read more.
如果在wikipedia上面检索“Eco-Patent Commons”，会得到一个失望的结果，找不到。因为这个词汇太新了，IBM、Nokia、Pitney Bowes和Sony四家公司成立了这个组织，这个组织的目的是建立一个开放的绿色科技专利库，凡是这个组织的成员都可以无偿的、无法律风险的使用这些专利，而加入这个组织的条件就是拿出至少1项和环境友好有关的专利，与其他成员分享。
Eco-Patent Commons（生态专利共同体）成员还会拥有一个免费的入口，通往世界可持续发展工商理事会（the World Business Council for Sustainable Development）拥有的知识产权资料库。
这样低的门槛无疑可以鼓励更多的公司加入其中。世界也会因此受益，因为专利保护问题而导致的环境技术传播缓慢的问题可能因此得到解决，这也是很多国家（包括中国）在内经常提出的问题，有些类似药品专利保护问题。
希望生态专利共同体能够快速成长。
New Eco-Patent Commons aims to open source cleantech
（via VentureBeat）A new initiative spearheaded by IBM, Nokia, Pitney Bowes and Sony will give companies a way to “donate” patents relating to cleantech or environmental science for use by entrepreneurs, governments and researchers, starting with a seed fund of some 30 patents shared by the four companies.
The Eco-Patent Commons provides free access to an online database of intellectual property maintained by the World Business Council for Sustainable Development. Any company with even a single patent is free to join the current four-company coalition and add their own patents.Read more.
