图上有一个紫色的圈，那是1979——2000年北极冰面范围的平均线。我们可以看到，2007年夏天，北极的冰面融化的非常快。
除了这个南北极冰面变化图层外，美国国家冰雪资料中心还制作了很多的google图层，比如全球冻土带的变化、冰川的变化等等，非常适于研究人员、教师、环保人士使用。可以到这里下载这些图层。
听起来难以置信，但在今夏就可能发生，北极点，那个似乎应该永远是冰封的地方，很可能第一次变成汪洋。几率有多大？超过50%。
如上图所示，北极的冰分为一年冰（single-year ice）和多年冰（muti-year ice），一年冰很薄，在夏天会融化。2007年，北极附近冰面的融化速度非常快，已经挺进距北极点700英里的地方（约1126.5公里）。而最近几星期的卫星图片显示，今年冰面的融化速度比去年更快。科学家说，北极点90度北（90 degrees north）方向的冰今夏可能全部融化。
美国国家冰雪资料中心的Mark Serreze教授说，今夏北极点是否还能有冰，将完全取决于7、8月份的天气状况了。
不知道各位朋友看完了这条消息有何感想。不过对于北极周围的国家来说，冰面的消失增加了它们开采海洋资源的可行性。

今天是地球日，不过有些扫兴的是，并没有看到世界自然基金会或者联合国环境署有什么吸引人的举动。Google在昨天推出了地球日地图，大家可以写写今天想干点什么，能对环境有好处，还可以录成视频，传到youtube上，然后也加到这张地图里。比如这个科罗拉多女孩要做的就是自己带着袋子去购物。
Google在去年地球日的时候，把logo画成了一座正在融化的冰山，提醒人们气候正在变暖。看明天google会带来什么吧。
