左图上这个怪怪的家伙是什么？它是一个叫Plantsense的网站推出的一个产品叫——GardenGro Sensor——实际上是一款土壤探测器，能够收集土壤的保水能力、湿度等信息。把它插到土里，它就会自动收集土壤信息；24小时后，再把它插到（它有一个USB接口）电脑上，就会登录到Plantsense网站上，然后它就开始处理收集到的信息。

资料分析完后会以两种方式呈现，一种是“推荐模式（recommendation mode）”，它会告诉你现在的土壤情况适合种什么植物；一种是“监测模式（monitoring mode）” ，它会告诉你现在的土壤状况适不适合现在的植物，如果不适合该怎么补救。这里有个图示说明。

这个公司已经得到了350万美元的第一笔风险投资。据说美国人每年在养植物上花费达210亿美元，而1/3的植物活不过1年。这种状况在我们国家也很普遍吧，很多人都爱花，可是总养不活。那么Plantsense可以说是养花人的法宝。

这个土壤探测器要在今年晚些时候上市，售价59.95美元。据说它的探测技术和NASA最新的火星探测器上使用的土壤分析装置是一样的。

PlantSense offers Internet-connected gardening tools

(via VentureBeat) The Internet is coming to your garden. PlantSense is making soil sensors that collect data and then make recommendations for what you can grow in a particular plot of land.

The company is also announcing today that is has raised $3.5 million in a first round of funding from Gabriel Ventures and angels. The company makes a sensor tool which has a USB connector.
